Non-outlet sewage reservoirs -SEPTIC TANKS are the most popular and often only way of draining sewage in unsewered areas. Septic tanks are designed to collect domestic sewage to be periodically removed by authorized services. They can be built in almost any conditions if the minimal distances are kept from the water source, building and plot border, bushes and trees, and the reservoir is completely leek-proof. A septic tank is sometimes the only solution, e.g.: - if the level of subsoil waters is so high that an ordinary sewage treatment plant with seepage drainage cannot be used, and additional solutions prove too expensive; - if there is too little sewage for a sewage treatment plant to be cost-effective; - if the plot is too small to fit a sewage treatment plant and drain the treated sewage into the soil within the property borders, and there is no other receiver in the vicinity. Periodic sewage removal by waste-removing vans adapted for the task may be conducted in two ways: • directly via the septic tank lid. It is the less convenient method since the person operating the waste-removing van must enter the property, and if the hose of the van is too short, the van must be driven within the property borders. The vans are heavy and if the drive is not sufficiently paved it might get damaged. • via the use of a pipe ending with a quick release coupling placed within the property fence. This makes waste-removing convenient. For this to be possible a reservoir with a pipe adapted to this type of connection can be bought, or any reservoir may be equipped with a flexible pipe inserted through the top opening reaching to the bottom, the other end of the pipe reaching the fence and equipped with a quick release coupling. The size of the reservoir or its holding capacity V, meaning the part in which the sewage may gather, should be adjusted to the number of users. Assuming that a single person uses about 150 l. daily, a septic tank with a capacity of 6000 l. (6 m3) used by a four person family will have to be emptied once in 10 days on average: V = 4 x 150 l./day x 10 days = 6000 l. (6 m3) It should be noted that the smaller the capacity of the reservoir and larger the number of users, the higher the exploitation costs will be, due to the necessity for more frequent emptying. If the septic tank capacities offered by us are insufficient, you may combine a number of reservoirs increasing their total capacity to a required size.
